Donde Esta, where is SOCUE?

Cultivating Promoters of health mind, body and spirit: Promotoras has always been our mission. Sisters of Color United for Education has created economic opportunities, and opportunities for wellness for thousands of individuals, families, generations and across cultures. As Colorado’s Oldest Promotora program, we have forged a path at the forefront of educating and training community health workers, now recognized as a part of the health care system. Participants have gained essential skills to work within non-profits, or have even taken it to the next level and started their own programs, businesses and community services. We are blessed, and fundamentally transformation is at the core of our souls, and that is why we are catalysts for change. Keeping our perspectives fresh, we are able to take concepts, such as Promtoras, harm reduction & drug policy, Food as Medicine and holistic health and wellness to the next level. Latino Elders building community strength

Sisters of Color is honored to get the involvement that we have seen for creating a stronger network that will provide help to Latino Seniors  with a variety of issues.  We have conducted over 150 surveys to find out what their needs are, and also find out what they wanted to learn and create.  We have hosted 2 Health Pachangas with over 125 seniors being directly referred and linked to other service providers....

Collaborations and Networks

  Personas Mayores is a senior elder coalition whose vision is to work together to address the health disparities that affect the Latino communities in Metro Denver.  We are unique and forward thinking to creating an elder Latino resource center,  to serve as entry point to provide education, advocacy and to build relationships with other organizations, coalitions, health practitioners and wellness providers.   Listos provides social support in the LBBTQ communities.  Our goal is to build community, and create opportunities and provide HIV education, testing and linkage to care. Voz y Corazon is a drop-in art group for teens where art is created, and there is a safe space to talk about how to prevent suicide as well as mentors, and an annual gala where the art is presented in the community.  Monday 5:30-6:30 call for more information...
